Job Title: Physical Education Teacher
Reports to: Principal
Dept./School: Assigned Campus
Primary Purpose:
Provide instruction to students to develop skills and ability in order to reach their physical potential. Contribute to education program as a whole and to growth of students.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree
Valid Texas teaching certificate
Special Knowledge/Skills:
General knowledge of physical education skill development and procedures
Ability to instruct and supervise students
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instruction
- Use a variety of instructional techniques to meet the needs and improve the physical abilities of students.
- Manage and supervise activities in order to promote individual growth in skills, teamwork, and good sportsmanship.
- Work with other members of school staff to plan and put in place instructional goals and objectives to ensure the overall educational development of students.
Program Management
- Establish performance criteria to evaluate students’ physical abilities initially and on a regular basis.
- Take all necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Monitor and enforce student eligibility criteria for extracurricular participation
Student Management
7. Encourage, by example and through instruction, sportsmanlike conduct in all phases of student participation.
Communication
8. Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
Administration
9. Assist in selection of equipment and instructional materials.
10. Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
11. Maintain a current inventory of all fixed assets within program.
12. Oversee process of cleaning, repairing, and storing all campus athletic equipment.
